Our commitment to the long-term development of our business and our markets is articulated in our purpose: "To Connect, Promote and Progress our Markets and the Communities they support for the prosperity of all."Job Summary: The Legal Services Department of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (“HKEX”) is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join its existing team to assist in all aspects of legal work involved in the implementation of HKEX’s strategic plan and to advise and support its business units.Job Duties:Provide advice to business units and senior management on legal and regulatory issues arising from the day-to-day operation of HKEX group companies;Draft, review and advise on rule amendments of the exchanges and the clearing houses;Review a wide range of contracts covering the engagement of vendors (IT and non-IT services), consultancy services, the use of market data, regulatory cooperation and other aspects relating to HKEX's activities; andWork with and manage external counsel and undertake a mix of typical in-house functions.Requirements:The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following attributes:Hong Kong qualified lawyer with at least 2 years' post qualification experience and a focus on or exposure to financial services/regulatory matters or IT/technology-related matters;Excellent written and spoken English and good Chinese language skills is essential, and proficiency in Putonghua would be an added advantage; andA strong team player with good commercial sense and the ability to work independently.Candidate with more experience will be considered for the position of VP, and less experience will be considered for the position of AVP. Prior in-house experience and work experience in data protection and legal compliance is helpful but not essential. Experience gained from international law firms, overseas exchanges or clearing houses will add great value to this role.HKEX is committed as an Equal Opportunity Employer.
