Job Description:The APAC Markets Legal team is looking for an experienced lawyer to join the team supporting the APAC prime finance business.As a Prime Finance Lawyer, Vice President within our APAC Markets Legal team you will be responsible for structuring and negotiating complex financial transactions, including prime brokerage agreements and financing agreements. You will advise on regulatory matters, mitigating legal risks and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations across APAC. You will have the opportunity to work with internal stakeholders globally, external clients and regulatory authorities to navigate the intricate landscape of prime finance.Job Responsibilities:
  • Advising on issues related to the prime brokerage, securities lending, and equity finance businesses
  • Negotiating prime brokerage client agreements and ancillary documentation for both cash and synthetic products
  • Working on bespoke lending and funding structures
  • Instructing and liaising with external counsel
  • Working collaboratively with legal colleagues and members of the business and other core functions (e.g., tax, credit, risk, operations, compliance, etc.) to deliver timely results
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • A qualified lawyer with a minimum of 6 years PQE and experience gained at an international law firm and/or bank/financial institution/buy-side firm
  • Ability to communicate complex factual matters and present clear and concise legal advice clearly and succinctly
  • Effective negotiation skills or the desire to develop such skills
  • A willingness and aptitude to learn new areas of the law and to take on new types of tasks
  • Highly motivated self-starter, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • A proven background in equity derivatives and the ISDA equity derivatives definitions is preferred
  • Law firm associates and in-house candidates coming out of a corporate, securities, lending, or financial regulatory practice
