DescriptionsRef : 250001K5Founded in 2016, the Centre for Chinese Music Studies (CCMS) at the Department of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong merged two former research units, the Chinese Music Archive (est. 1972) and the Chinese Opera Information Centre (est. 2000). Being one of the most important research platforms for Chinese music globally, the CCMS's archival collection contains 12,000 books, journals and scores, 12,000 gramophone records, over 6,000 recordings in other media formats, and over 17,000 primary source items on Chinese opera. It also regularly organises conferences, concerts, lectures, and workshops to promote traditional Chinese music and opera to the public. The CCMS is seeking a proactive and motivated candidate to support the Centre's work.Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in Music, Chinese Studies, Arts and Cultural Management, or a related discipline (for Postdoctoral Fellow), OR a Master's degree in the above-mentioned disciplines with a minimum of four years' post-qualification relevant work experience (for Research Associate); (ii) an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese; (iii) commensurate professional experience in grant applications, conference organisation, and event management; (iv) commensurate professional experience in data collection, archival documentation, and event promotion across social and print media; (v) excellent communication and presentation skills; and (vi) the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Familiarity and experience with grant writing and donor engagement within the Hong Kong context would be an advantage.The appointee will be responsible for (a) assisting in impact development and public and media engagement; (b) funding applications correlated with underpinning research; (c) engaging with donors; (d) providing research office support within the Department of Music; and (e) systematically developing and maintaining databases to document and present impact data and evidence. The appointee will be affiliated with the Department and collaborate closely with its faculty members in planning and coordinating research and dissemination activities.Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.Review of applications will begin on October 31, 2025, and will continue until the position is filled.
