The Asset & Wealth Management Division (AWM) Alternatives Private Operations team is seeking an Analyst to join the Execution and Closing team, offering dedicated front-to-back support for the closing of private transactions. AWM is focused on a wide range of alternative private activities and transactions, including Private/Public equities, Private Credit (including bond and loan), Real Estate, Derivatives (Vanilla & Exotic), and FX. This position will provide support for many facets of the closing process related to these types of transactions, as well as general transaction project management.OUR IMPACTAlternatives Private Operations team members are subject matter experts in execution and closing and play a critical role in supporting bespoke and varied transactions, ensuring deal closings are executed seamlessly. The role involves working on new structures, complex documentation, strong collaboration, and coordination across both regional and cross-regional stakeholders. The scope of the role is expected to evolve and expand as functions transfer into the team and the scope of the alternative private investment mix changes.HOW YOU WILL FULFIL YOUR POTENTIAL
This is an exceptionally diverse role that entails collaboration with Investing Professionals, Portfolio Management, Alternative Capital Formation, Strategists, Controllers, Legal, Risk, Credit, Tax, Compliance, other Operations teams, and external counterparties. The successful individual will be expected to work in a team of professionals and be able to be commercial, organized & comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, whilst ensuring the highest level of execution and risk management.
- Gain an in-depth & comprehensive understanding of a wide range of real estate investments, documentation, and regulations/governance.
- Partner with investing professionals, asset managers, control side functions and external parties to coordinate and execute all required deal closing documentation.
- Develop analytical skills to assist in understanding structured transactions and contribute to robust operational solutions.
- Operational support for deal execution, deal closing, trade lifecycle and harvesting activities across the Real Estate, Private Credit and Private Equity business lines.
- Ensuring critical timelines and requirements are met throughout each stage of a deal closing via strong deal specific project management.
- Review and analyze loan documentation to understand, monitor & tracking of covenants and financial documents deliverables where GS is acting as a lender.
- Ensuring all regulatory and reporting requirements are satisfied throughout each stage of deal execution.
- Coordinate and liaise with external agents, clients and internal stakeholders to execute trade bookings, deal related funding, payment requests and manage lifecycle events.
- Review and abstract key terms and economics from deal documentation.
- Work with business and internal stakeholders to assess and provide expertise on new deals and business initiatives.
- Exhibit excellent judgement & problem-solving skills, particularly in the context of transaction execution, documentation and closing practices.
- Proactively work with business units to assess and streamline processes in order to mitigate risk and drive efficiencies.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher.
- Chinese language skills.
- 1+ years of professional experience in financial services, Operations, or a related field.
- Previous internships or exposure to private markets, middle office functions, or transaction support within a financial institution is highly desirable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and enjoy working in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comfortable in a high-pressure environment.
- Able to work well in a team environment, across multiple teams and regions.
- Ability to identify where process improvements can be made to increase efficiency and control.
