Full-time Research Assistant I (holding the functional title of “Project Executive”) in the School of Chinese (Ref.: 526249) (to commence as soon as possible for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)Founded in 1927, the School of Chinese at HKU boasts a long and distinguished history as one of the university's oldest academic units. Currently it encompasses four key programmes: Chinese Language and Literature, Chine History and Culture, Translation, and Hong Kong Studies. Additionally, it includes the Chinese Language Enhancement Programme and the Chinese Language Centre.With a steadfast commitment to promoting Chinese heritage and integrating Chinese and Western scholarship, the School aspires to become a leading international centre for research and teaching in our field. As we approach our centennial milestone in 2027, we are seeking to hire a full-time colleague to join our team and contribute to the transition towards this significant landmark.Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Language, or a related discipline, and at least one year of full-time work experience. Candidates with experience in event management, public relations, and/or knowledge of publishing design, media, and communications (e.g., website/social media) will be given preference.Successful candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua), and be able to handle multiple assignments concurrently while balancing priorities and meeting deadlines. They should also be able to work independently and as part of a team, handle pressure, and multitask. Advanced computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and Chinese word processing are required, while experience in scriptwriting and video production would be advantageous.The appointee will be responsible for providing implementation assistance to the School Head, School Manager, and work groups; coordinating and engaging with different teams and school stakeholders in terms of project implementation and dissemination; creating promotional and dissemination events and materials (such as writing promotional articles and stories); managing events, project websites/social media/newsletter platforms; and assisting in daily operations and performing other assigned duties. The appointee will work collaboratively with other team members and external vendors.A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, along with annual leave and medical benefits. Immediate availability is preferred, with the appointment commencing as soon as possible for one year, and the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
