Covering the three core business disciplines of Management, Marketing, and Management Information Systems (MIS), MM is a department in the Faculty of Business at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Founded in 1937 as Hong Kong's second oldest university, PolyU is a globally renowned institution that is consistently ranked among the world's best universities (QS University Rankings 2026: #54 worldwide; U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities 2025: #58). Likewise, the Faculty of Business at PolyU is a powerhouse in research, currently ranked #35 worldwide and #5 in Asia according to the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) Research Ranking (as of July 2025).With around 70 full-time academic staff, MM offers a comprehensive range of programmes spanning bachelor, master's, and doctoral levels. MIS faculty members are not only passionate in pursuing research that pushes the frontiers of research and are publishable in premium journals (e.g., MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Management Science, Journal of Operations Management, as well as Production and Operations Management, among others), but they also actively shape the field, serving as Senior Editors and Associate Editors of pre-eminent journals of the information systems discipline and contributing to the community in various leadership roles. We expect the successful candidate to demonstrate a strong commitment to research excellence with publications in leading journals (or outstanding potential thereof) and a dedication to high-quality teaching. Duties and qualifications of the position are as follows:The appointee will be required to (a) engage in top-level scholarly research in their areas of expertise; (b) supervise research students; (c) secure competitive research grants from external funding agencies; (d) teach at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels; and (e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.Applicants should have a PhD degree or equivalent in the field of specialization at the time of appointment or be close to receiving it.Preference will be given to those with a research orientation with demonstrated ability to publish in premium scholarly journals as well as teaching experience in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or Data Analytics.Conditions of ServiceThe compensation package, research support and teaching loads are highly competitive and commensurate with candidates' qualifications. Initial appointment for Assistant Professor will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
