Established by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (“TWGHs”) in 2010, Tung Wah College (TWC) is a self-financing degree-granting institution registered under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap.320). Following the educational ideals of TWGHs and leveraging on its renowned strengths and expertise, TWC aims to provide high quality tertiary education to nurture competent, socially responsible and caring professionals for the benefits of society.With the staunch support of TWGHs, TWC has been developing rapidly and built up a niche in healthcare education. It is the first self-financing tertiary institution offering five professionally accredited degrees to train nurses and allied health professionals such as medical laboratory technologists, occupational therapists and radiation therapists. Besides, the College is also the first institution registered under Cap. 320 offering early childhood education degree and higher diploma programmes to train qualified kindergarten teachers and childcare professionals.Currently, TWC has 4 schools (namely School of Arts and Humanities, School of Management, School of Medical and Health Sciences, and School of Nursing) running a total of 19 degree, sub-degree and diploma programmes in several disciplines. It has a student population of over 4,000 in 2024/2025.Being a young and vibrant institution, TWC aspires to become a leading private university in the long term. To cope with its continuous development, we are now inviting highly qualified candidates to fill the following post:Professor (Research Track), School of Medical & Health Sciences(TWC/25/152/MHS/Prof)Tung Wah College is conducting a global search for a Professor (Research Track) in the School of Medical and Health Sciences to provide academic leadership and foster research excellence. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative candidate with a distinguished record in medical and health sciences, particularly those who leverage modern methodologies to advance the field.ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate will have a strong background in applying knowledge to advance education, professional practice, and innovative healthcare development. We welcome applicants with expertise in areas such as allied health, biomedical science, forensic Science, medical laboratory science, public health, neuroscience, or sports science. We are also especially interested in candidates who have strengths in Artificial Intelligence (AI), health data analytics, bioinformatics, or digital health for translational, multidisciplinary research. A proven ability to lead curriculum development, secure competitive grants for applied research, and foster strong community and clinical partnerships is highly desirable.Candidates should be highly self-motivated, be an excellent team player, and eager to contribute to a collaborative, practice-oriented academic setting. The successful candidate is expected to: * Develop and lead high-impact applied and translational research projects that address real-world healthcare challenges;
  • Secure and manage significant external research funding;
  • Publish regularly in internationally recognized, high-impact journals while disseminating findings to the wider academic and professional community;
  • Provide academic leadership in teaching, programme development, and professional accreditation;
  • Mentor and supervise postgraduate research students and early-career researchers, fostering a dynamic, inclusive research culture;
  • Actively build and maintain partnerships with local and international healthcare institutions, industry, and the community;
  • Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement of the School and College's research agenda;
  • Engage actively in professional organizations, representing the School in relevant academic, clinical, and community networks; and
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements * A doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Biomedical Science, Forensic, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Public Health, Sports Science, AI, Health Informatics, or a related field), preferably a PhD.
  • Demonstrated substantial experience in leadership roles within the tertiary education sector or in professional organizations.
  • A distinguished record of scholarly achievement commensurate with the rank of Professor.
  • Extensive experience in tertiary education, including curriculum design, teaching, and programme management.
  • A strong track record in applied, practice-based research and competitive grant acquisition.
  • Documented experience in successful supervision of postgraduate students.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body in Hong Kong (where applicable) is an advantage.
