A Financial Institution with steady growth is looking for an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) specializing in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) to join the team. As an SME of VDI, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing our organization's VDI environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful deployment and operation of VDI solutions that meet the business needs.Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary technical authority and advisor for VDI architecture and solutions.
  • Design and implement VDI solutions based on business requirements, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Provide expertise in VDI platforms, such as VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure the underlying infrastructure (servers, storage, networking) supports the VDI environment effectively.
  • Develop and maintain VDI design documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration guides, and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform capacity planning and scalability assessments to ensure the VDI environment can accommodate future growth.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex VDI issues, working closely with support teams and vendors when necessary.
  • Monitor VDI performance and optimize the environment for efficiency and user experience.
  • Provide training and guidance to IT teams and end-users on VDI usage, best practices, and troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience as an SME or senior-level engineer in VDI technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of VDI platforms, such as VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization concepts and technologies, including hypervisors (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V).
  • Experience with VDI deployments, including infrastructure sizing, network configurations, and storage considerations.
  • Proficiency in implementing and managing VDI-related technologies, such as connection brokers, virtual desktop pools, profile management, and application delivery.
  • Familiarity with VDI performance monitoring and optimization tools.
  • Solid understanding of VDI security principles and best practices.
  • Relevant certifications, such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Citrix Certified Associate (CCA-V), or Microsoft Certified: Windows Virtual Desktop Specialty, are highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
