IBM Power Systems Power Technical Specialist is a client facing technical sales role of IBM Hong Kong and is accountable to design solution surrounding IBM Power Systems and other IT infrastructure and Middleware to address client challenge.
Power Systems Technical Specialist need to lead and collaborate among IBM Business Partners, Independent Software Vendors, Global Systems Integrators, as well as IBM cross teams to achieve business objectives with win-win outcome.Key responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:
  • Develop strategies for clients and to design and architect solution surrounding IBM Power Systems and applications for mission critical IT infrastructure or to achieve digital transformation to modernize Power Systems stack.
  • Qualify and Quantify business opportunities and to Deliver solution presentation proposal to address client needs.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience to deliver solution demonstrations, workshops, education, Minimum Viable Product or Proof of Experience.
  • Consultatively building credibility and trust at all levels, internally and externally, to close highly complex Cloud technology deals.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Bachelor Degree holder from Computer Science / Engineering / Information Technology relevant discipline is required.
  • Logical thinking, Client centric with Cautions in solution design are key attribution as IBM Power Systems are adopted in mission critical platform.
  • 1- 2 years working experience in area of IT solution design, IT administration (e.g mid-ranger server, DBA, network, cloud platform) or operations experience of mission critical IT infrastructure (e.g. Banking Solutions, ERP, SAP, J2EE, TPM, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Backup Restore)
  • Knowledge and Hands-on experience of one or more operating systems, like IBM AIX, IBM i, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, other UNIX or Linux etc.
  • Good understanding of Hybrid Cloud, including Virtual Machines (PowerVM, KVM, vmware) and Container Cloud (Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker) and optional experience of Public Cloud (PowerVS, AWS, Azure) or Cloud Management platform (OpenStack, vCenter) etc.
  • Knowledge of programing languages like Java, C/C++, Python, Shell Scripts and optionally middleware like IBM DB2, Oracle, HANA, Postgres Database, NoSQL Database (MongoDB, Neo4j, Redis, Elastic Search, Cloudera) etc.
  • Fluent in Cantonese and English with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and a proven record of influencing consensus across diverse groups of senior stakeholders within enterprises.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Depth and breadth of knowledge regarding the Power mid-range server marketplace and competitive situation in order to consult and advise, and quickly grow your reputation as your clients' credible, trusted advisor. (Training on IBM's Power offerings is provided).
  • DevSecOps, MLOps, Open Source Software, Data and AI experience will be much welcome.
  • Mandarin communication capability will be an added advantage.
