Different clinical professionals are required to staff different teams in various branches of CHP. Infection Control Branch is one of the six branches of CHP with strategic functions in infection control practices, training, investigations, and management in different healthcare and non-healthcare settings.The incumbent is required to work for the Infection Control Branch, Centre for Health Protection on a secondment basis, with main duties as follows:1. Steer the strategic direction and oversee the operation of Infection Control Branch, Centre for Health Protection.2. Provide expert advice to infection control of institutional outbreaks.3. Establish and ensure efficient collaboration among Centre for Health Protection, HA Infectious Diseases Centre and the concerned departments/ units of HA.4. Develop Health Protection Programmes in relation to infection control.5. Advise on the preparation and update of contingency plans on clinical infections with public health impacts.6. Provide expert advice on the preparation of management guidelines on clinical infections with public health impacts.7. Organize relevant training programs for professionals and general public as necessary and take charge of the operation of HA Infectious Disease Control Training Centre.Entry Requirements1. Registered medical practitioner under the Medical Registration Ordinance; and2. Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Pathology) or (Medicine) or equivalent; and3. Registered in the Specialist Register in the relevant specialty of the Medical Council of Hong Kong.Preferred Attributes / Exposure1. Training or Certification in Infection Control by a professional body.2. Staff members in the rank are expected to meet the 4 core competencies set for the Consultant post. They are:i) Functional competency.ii) Personal competency.iii) People and team competency.iv) Organization effectiveness.3. Able to demonstrate the enthusiasm in improving the overall infection control in Hong Kong in a public health context.4. Possess expertise in clinical and laboratory microbiology, infection control and clinical infections.5. At least 12 months of enhanced experience/relevant training in the following areas:i) clinical microbiology including bacteriology, virology and/or public health related posting for fellows in infectious disease; orii) acute general medicine or infectious disease in-patient and out-patient care for fellows in clinical microbiology stream.Remarks1.
