Research Assistant I/II (holding the functional title of “Project Assistant”) in the Centre for Water Technology and Policy, under the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 526302) (to commence as soon as possible, on a one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)About the Centre for Water Technology and PolicyThe Centre for Water Technology and Policy, established in 2018, conducts cutting-edge research on water technology and water policy issues that produce findings of direct practical relevance for Hong Kong's urban water sector. Our research team has assembled some of the best minds in the Faculties of Engineering and Social Sciences. The Centre offers a vibrant working environment, embraces an innovative culture and commits to a can-do spirit.Duties and responsibilitiesThe appointee will provide research assistance to the Centre in various areas. He/She will assist in research data collection and research data management for ongoing research projects. This includes liaising with external parties to coordinate fieldwork schedules; performing field tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of data collection devices installed by the research team; conducting online and telephone surveys to gather research data; and performing research data entry into databases or software systems and assisting in maintaining records of research findings.Additionally, the appointee will provide administrative and logistical support for the Centre's research and knowledge exchange projects. This entails processing service procurement, managing reimbursement claims, and facilitating invoice payments crucial for project operations; managing incoming inquiries related to research; maintaining the Centre's webpage and social media channels to disseminate research updates and findings effectively; and providing logistical support for research and knowledge exchange activities, ensuring smooth execution and coordination of events.He/ She is also expected to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability by performing any other duties as assigned, contributing to various aspects of research projects and Centre operations as needed.RequirementsApplicants should possess (i) a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline, with at least two years of work experience. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, IT proficiency, and the ability to work independently and multitask under pressure. Prior work experience in a tertiary institution would be a strong advantage. Candidates with less experience may be considered for the Research Assistant II position.What we offerThe appointment will commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
