Professor / Associate Professor (Spatial Planning and Urban Studies)
(Ref. 240000AW) Closing Date: Until the post(s) is / are filledThe Department of Geography and Resource Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is seeking an outstanding candidate for the post of Professor / Associate Professor . We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in spatial planning and urban studies, with a scholarly focus on sustainable urbanism.Applicants should possess (i) a doctoral degree; (ii) a strong academic background in at least one of the following areas: spatial planning, sustainability, geography, environmental policy, or a related field; (iii) demonstrated outstanding research and scholarly works in the relevant fields, showcasing research excellence; and (iv) planning or related professional qualifications.The appointee will (a) be responsible for teaching courses and curriculum development at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate level related to spatial planning, sustainable urbanism or related fields; (b) conduct independent research, (c) collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on relevant research projects, (d) undertake academic administrative service, and (e) promote collaboration with professional institutions in the field.Appointment will normally be made on a contract basis for up to three years initially, targeted to start in August 2024, which, subject to performance, funding availability, and mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.
