World Green Organisation (WGO) is an independent non-governmental organisation with an operation of HK$13 million in 2017 with 31 full time staff. WGO is dedicated to enhancing the quality of the environment, promoting a green economy, and improving people’s livelihoods, especially underprivileged groups, through a range of research and community programmes. To cope with its expansion, WGO is inviting passionate individuals of high professional caliber to join its team of experts.Snapshot of WGO’s accomplishments:Social Innovation Inventor Competition – Over 360 teams of tertiary and secondary students amounting to over 1,000 students channeled their creativity to provide innovative solutions to tackle social issues, for example, to improve the quality of life of elders with Alzheimer through environmental-friendly and safe home design. Students are encouraged to show care to the needy and understand the hardships faced by many in our society.Linking Food with Love - Food recycling teams composed of youths, who help collect edible but unsold surplus vegetables from wet markets in order to avoid disposal. This has reduced 7 tonnes of food waste, promote young-elderly integration through vegetable collection, upcycling workshops and redistribute 230 surplus food package to underprivileged families and the elderly.The “Less Waste Let’s Do it” Program successfully trained up more than 40 youngsters to become 3R Ambassadors through a series of environmental workshops and site visits. The Ambassadors has designed, planned and executed their own green programmes - Exchange Corner, Green Fair, Upcycling Workshops for community in which local residents are encouraged to actively participate as well as foster behavioral change in daily life.The Green Office Program (GOALS) supported over 300 offices in their efforts to improve workplace sustainability, including the Airport Authority HK, DHL Express, Ernst and Young, Fuji Xerox, JP Morgan, Sasa International and so on. Qualified companies are entitled to receiving WGO Green Office Label and United Nations Label.The Energy Poverty Program helped over 300 low-income families in sub-divided flats to reduce their economic burden by cutting down their electricity bills through replacing their electrical appliances with more efficient models and equipping them with energy saving skills.Other projects include Climate Change Forum in collaboration with HK Observatory, University of Cambridge as well as other universities in Hong Kong; and poverty alleviation works carried out in Burmese villages. To cope with its expansion, WGO is inviting passionate individuals of high professional caliber to join its team of experts.We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Master or PhD-level researcher. The successful candidate will conduct detailed research and analysis on various Business disciplines or Sustainability and ESG aspects. Candidate will earn an opportunity to work with leading consultancy firms in digesting business reports and sustainability standards in Hong Kong, Mainland and Southeast Asia, providing insights to business corporations and NGOs in transformation to low carbon economy.Job Description:
  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on Business or Sustainability topics, including business reports, research papers, and articles
  • Develop business case studies through interviews and primary and secondary research
  • Digest business reports, perform comparison and analysis
  • Study the latest international standards and convert into training materials
  • Prepare presentations, research summaries, and background analysis as needed
  • Collaborate with a team of researchers led by the CEO
Job Requirements:
  • A Master's or PhD qualification in one of the following:
  • Business disciplines (Eg: Marketing, Management, Corporate Governance)
  • Sustainability disciplines (Eg: Ecology or Environmental Management)
  • Proficiency in research methodologies and data management, preferably in the areas of Business, ESG or sustainability
  • Decent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and information
  • Publication experience in reputable journals is highly advantageous
  • Knowledge on sustainability and environmental aspects is not a must
  • Passion for sustainability, environmental protection, and making a positive impact
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
