Job DescriptionDescriptionThe Morgan Stanley ( ) Market Data Support Team is part of the real-time marketdata production management group, which is responsible for support, and maintenance of the core marketdata platforms. The team is integral to this group supporting our distribution system, which is used to supply real-time data to our clients. The direct exchange feeds, vendor feeds and in-house feeds which make up the inputs to this system are also supported by this team.The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, broad sense of ownership and proactively are a must.Key ResponsibilitiesWorking alongside the existing team members on a shift basis.Monitoring and incident management on a daily basis.Daily Ready For Business cover and check outsEnd Of Day cover and check outsManage the Marketdata support hotlineFault finding based on problem tickets and direct escalation from users and other IT groups.Working with feed integration teams within marketdata to facilitate checkouts of changes made by these groups.Weekend Check outs and weekend ready for business checks.Provide on call coverage as requiredMaintain monitoring processes to be used globallyLiaise with Vendors and Exchanges in relation to data and feed issues.Manage or participate in the implementation and rollout of new services and products.Support global Market Data teams as part of a follow the sun support modelProvide validation service for the implementation and rollout of new servicesDocument, implement and adhere to operational and technical standards, best practices, processes, and procedures (problem/change/release/request management/service/time reporting)Log Tickets / Jiras and incidents to track work flow.Log Incident Tickets and Problem tickets to manage incidents and follow-ups to completionManage Jira based tasks thru Kanban Board (scripting / monitoring / tool support and other non incident work)Manage and participate in Firm DR Testing on behalf of RTMDQualificationsGood understanding of Unix/Linux operating platforms and commandsUnix shell scripting skills. Perl / Python programming is also very useful.Knowledge of Unix surveillance and troubleshooting tools and file search facilities (grep, awk).Familiarity with Unix system administration and securityExperience with Network and real-time messaging technologiesMulticast, TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP plus client-developed data distribution platformsGood network diagnostic skillsDesired skillsExposure to incident management in an IT environmentUnderstanding of market data categories, e.g., Equities, options, futures, mutual funds, fixed income, etc.Understanding of market data concepts, e.g., Quotes, level 1 quote and level 2 quote differences, basic structure of an order book, different types of markets, etc.Experience with market data content from various vendor providers, e.g., Reuters, Bloomberg, etc.WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM MORGAN STANLEY:We are committed to maintaining the first-class service and high standard of excellence that have defined Morgan Stanley for over 89 years.
