- Lead investment oversight of the insurance joint venture and asset management company.
- Provide strategic advice to global stakeholders on China's investment markets, insurer practices, asset classes, and specific assets, leveraging deep and practical market knowledge.
- Collaborate with JV management to apply investment best practices and risk-return principles tailored to the China market.
- Advise the JV on effective oversight of their asset manager and support the development of a robust investment governance framework.
- Conduct in-depth analyses to evaluate portfolio opportunities and risks across geographies, industries, asset types, and instruments.
- Provide insights and regular reporting on JV investments, along with ad hoc updates as needed.
- Partner with investment teams to participate in quarterly CECL reviews and ongoing credit risk assessments, including monitoring watchlists and conducting special reviews of troubled assets.
- Stay informed on market trends to identify emerging investment opportunities and risks.
- Develop and implement mechanisms to monitor ALM risk exposure effectively.
- Work with JV management to ensure ALM policies and standards are comprehensive and up to date, addressing evolving risks.
- Conduct risk-based deep dives to identify and assess emerging ALM risks.
- Serve as the lead for annual strategic asset allocation planning.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Asset-Liability Management (ALM) and/or overseeing insurance asset portfolios and asset management companies.
- Professional designation such as Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.
- Proven expertise in designing ALM and investment strategies tailored to insurance liabilities and capital requirements, including the development of reporting and control frameworks to monitor ALM effectiveness.
- Deep understanding of the operational models, business drivers, and regulatory landscape of asset management companies in China.
- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to drive constructive change and gain stakeholder alignment.
- Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently, managing competing priorities, and adapting to evolving responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively and diplomatically in high-pressure, complex environments.
- Excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational abilities.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English and Mandarin.
- Experience in the health insurance sector is a plus.
