Our commitment to the long-term development of our business and our markets is articulated in our purpose: "To Connect, Promote and Progress our Markets and the Communities they support for the prosperity of all."Job Summary: The Legal Services Department of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (“HKEX”) is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join its existing team to assist in all aspects of legal work involved in the implementation of HKEX’s strategic plan and to advise and support its business units.Job Duties:
- Provide advice to business units and senior management on legal and regulatory issues arising from the day-to-day operation of HKEX group companies;
- Draft, review and advice on rule amendments of the exchanges and the clearing houses;
- Review a wide range of contracts relating to the engagement of consultants and vendors, regulatory cooperation and other aspects of HKEX's group activities; and
- Work with and manage external counsel and undertake a mix of typical in-house functions
- Hong Kong qualified lawyer with at least 8 years' post qualification experience and a focus on or exposure to financial services/regulatory matters
- Excellent written and spoken English and good Chinese language skills is essential with proficiency in Putonghua would be an added advantage
- A strong team player with good commercial sense and the ability to work independently
- Candidates with experience in the following areas will be considered favourably: experience in derivatives (including OTC derivatives), providing advice on the Securities and Futures Ordinance and the rules and regulations of the exchanges and the clearing houses or financial regulation in other major jurisdictions
- Prior in-house experience is helpful but not essential. Experience gained from international law firms, overseas exchanges or clearing houses will add great value to this role
