This role is critical in ensuring that all environmental, health, and safety standards are upheld in accordance with both company policies and local regulations. You will act as the key liaison between the client, contractors, and internal teams to promote a safe and compliant working environment.Job Description
- Monitor and enforce EHS compliance on-site, ensuring adherence to all relevant legislation and client requirements
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions
- Deliver EHS training and toolbox talks to site personnel
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to safety performance and incidents
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and client representatives to drive continuous improvement in EHS practices
- Review contractors Risk Assessments and Method statements prior to each element of work to check that the whole scope of the work has been captured and that it appears a safe system of work is in place detailing hazards and control measures (that each task has been suitably planned).
- Where improvement opportunities are observed keep a record of these on a day to day basis.
- Conduct formal Audits of the physical site and documentation pertaining to the Contractors HSE Management System, provide reports detailing findings and recommended actions to close any gaps.
- Analyse data collected from inspections, near-miss and hazard reports, identify trends and implement initiatives and processes to proactively manage issues identified.
- Work with the project team and contractor to manage any design changes during the construction phase, highlight where safety may be impacted and ensure the project team have suitable control prior to the change being implemented.
- Monitor to ensure the contractor updates their Contract HSSE Plan throughout the construction phase as appropriate.
- Assist the project team to ensure suitable welfare is provided for the contractor and that arrangements are in place for the welfare to be suitably maintained.
- Ensure all minor incidents are investigated by the contractor and all incidents are logged into Clients incident management system
- Conduct an investigation to determine the root cause and any underlying causes for:
- incidents with a major injury (or the potential for a major injury)
- Any breach of a Client Life Saving Rule (LSR)
- Work with the Contractor to ensure information is collated to ensure a smooth handover of areas to FM following work.
- input into lessons learned workshops / meetings.
- Provide Monthly HSSE reports.
- Any other duties required to ensure safe operations on site.
- Professional qualification in HSE
- Registered Safety Officer preferred
- 8+ Years (or equivalent) experience managing construction & refurbishment projects
- In-depth understanding of construction risks, incl. electricity, work at height, hot works, use of lifting equipment etc.
- Experience in coordinating the projects in Data Centre sector preferred
- Understanding and experience of construction work in occupied facilities
