Major Duties:
(a) To catalogue, acquire, and manage serials for library materials;
(b) To provide circulation counter services and related support services;
(c) To process various materials, including books, periodicals, e-resources and multimedia items;
(d) To perform tasks such as book shelving, shelf-reading and book removal; and
(e) To lead library activities, answer general inquiries, create graphics, and perform general clerical duties.
Requirements:
(a) (i) Level 2 or above in 5 subjects, including English Language*, Chinese Language and Mathematics, in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination, or equivalent^; OR
(ii) Level 2 / Grade E or above in 5 subjects including English Language (Syllabus B)*, Chinese Language and Mathematics in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE); OR
(iii) Diploma of Applied Education + Maths Plus / Diploma Yi Jin + Mathematics / Project Yi Jin; OR
(iv) A recognised Certificate / Diploma / Foundation Diploma / Foundation Certificate / Diploma of Foundation Studies; OR
(v) A recognised Associate Degree / Higher Diploma or above.
- Completion of Hong Kong Vocational English Programme (HKVEP) at Level 2 / Passing 5 specific VTC’s Vocational English Module Certificates is considered an alternative qualification.
(b) Proficiency in the use of computer software application, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese word processing;
(c) Good command of English and Chinese, preferably with knowledge of Putonghua;
(d) Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills;
(e) Ability to work independently and be a good team player;
(f) Possession of related library qualifications and work experience in an academic library, e.g. using Alma Library System is preferred;
(g) Knowledge in graphic design software and ability to handle basic multi-media graphics work; and
(h) Knowledge in managing social media platforms and updating website.
Note:
The appointee(s) will be required to work on shifts.
