INDUSTRIAL CENTREEngineering Manager (Ref. 250821008-IE)DutiesThe Industrial Centre is a central support unit that provides support for teaching, research, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer to the University. The Centre is looking for innovative, technology-savvy individuals who love to work in multi-disciplinary teams.The appointee will be required to:(a) lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers specialising in information and communication technologies, with a focus on robotics, intelligent automation, computer programming, and mechatronics;(b) coordinate and conduct teaching at the degree level, including teaching materials development, student project supervision, outcome assessment, and quality improvement;(c) assist in the strategic development and management of a central facility for innovation and technology; and(d) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Centre or his/her delegates.QualificationsApplicants should:(a) have a master’s degree or a higher degree in Information & Communication Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related field;(b) have at least eight years of experience and in-depth technical knowledge of information and communication systems, robotic development, AI algorithms, and computer programming (e.g., Python, C++, Java, ROS);(c) have hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Designing and deploying robotic systems, including hardware integration and real world testing.
  • Developing and implementing computer vision, AI and machine learning models for practical applications.
  • Programming embedded systems and microcontroller-based devices.
  • Implementing and troubleshooting network protocols and communication interfaces (e.g., TCP/IP, MQTT, CAN, Modbus).
  • Prototyping and integrating mechatronic systems, including actuators, sensors, and controllers.
(d) demonstrate a proven track record of successfully leading engineering teams and delivering complex technical projects;(e) exhibit outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members; and(f) have an excellent command of both written and spoken English.Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.Conditions of ServiceA highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.
