About the roleWe are seeking an experienced Product Developer specializing in backpacks, bags, and accessories. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience in product development, with a strong background in working within buying offices or manufacturing environments. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can manage the product lifecycle from concept to production, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.Key Responsibilities
  • Product Development Management: Oversee the transition of products from design approval through to production readiness, ensuring on-time and complete delivery.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with design, product creation, and supply chain teams to achieve product design intent and commercial objectives.
  • Vendor Communication: Coordinate with global vendors and factories to communicate specifications and standards.
  • Manufacturing Input: Provide input to improve scalability, efficiency, and quality in manufacturing processes.
  • Bill of Materials (BOM) Management: Transform tech pack information into accurate BOMs for efficient sourcing and production.
  • Costing & Negotiation: Conduct detailed costing analysis and negotiate pricing with suppliers to meet target margins.
  • Process Improvement: Identify gaps and drive process improvements in collaboration with various departments.
  • Sample & Quality Management: Oversee prototype development, sample approvals, and ensure all products meet quality standards.
  • Market Research: Stay updated on market trends, material innovations, and construction techniques relevant to backpacks, bags, and accessories.
  • Documentation: Develop and update technical packages (Tech Packs) including construction details, fabric and trim specifications, and fitting comments.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of proven experience in product development, specifically in backpacks, bags, or accessories.
  • Prior experience working in buying offices or manufacturers is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, technical construction, and sourcing.
  • Effective communication skills with both internal and external parties.
  • Ability to conduct cost analysis, negotiate prices, and manage product costing.
  • Project Management: Capable of managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
