This role manages our library and fosters a vibrant, inclusive learning environment. The post holder is responsible for supporting the curriculum, teaching and learning within the school.Main duties
  • Maintain the efficient running of the Library.
  • Oversee the use of all Library equipment and ensure its safety, as far as practicable.
  • Undertake routine Library procedures.
  • Promote the proper use of the Library within the School: implementing a programme of Library skills tutorials for students.
  • Promote the Library through displays & activities plus the website, with input from subject departments.
  • Provide professional services in support of learning & research needs to achieve the most effective delivery of the curriculum.
  • Establish a professional and friendly working relationship with students.
  • Oversee storage, shelving and maintenance of resources.
  • Support teaching staff as required.
  • Manage the access of print/audio visual and electronic services, materials and facilities
  • Offer guidance to users, where necessary, on the proper use of the INTERNET and any other technology-related equipment.
  • Willing to learn and keep up to date with Library automation.
  • Operate library systems including Softlink, “Oliver” and other softwares.
  • Supervise the library during breaks, lunchtime and after school.
  • Assist staff and students to easily access information and recreational resources required.
  • Establish a clear code of library conduct, consistent with the school’s general code of conduct.
  • Carry out all reasonable tasks that may be requested by the Vice Principal (in charge of the Library) and the HR Manager.
Core Professional / Technical Competencies required
  • Abilities: The person appointed must be able to appraise and evaluate library materials to ensure a well-balanced, up-to-date stock which meets the curricular and recreational needs of all readers
  • Knowledge: Computing Skills (Library System Software - ALICE, OLIVER and the latest development), knowledge of School Library
